Gary R. Olson, 70

Gary R. Olson, age 70, of West Bend, died peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at The Kathy Hospice with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Spooner, Minnesota, to Ernest and Eleanore (nee Mueller) Olson and married Susan M. Franke on May 8, 1971 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Gary graduated from Waukesha Central High School before entering the U.S. Navy where he served as a Seabee during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked at Kemps Dairy for more than 43 years.
Gary loved working in his yard, golfing, enjoying a cocktail on his deck and going to the casinos. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, always following the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers.
More than anything, Gary loved spending time with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan; his son Christopher (Hallie) of Indianapolis; his grandson, Trace; and five siblings, Ronald (Linda) of Sheboygan, Dale (Sharon) of West Bend, Karen Zick of Waterford, Kathy (Ken) Fisher of Ladysmith and Jeanie (David) Perrine of Iron Ridge. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law, Steven (Jean) Franke of Frisco, Texas, and Randall (Carol) Franke of New Berlin; nieces and nephews, Randy, Raleen, Annette, Chad, Tanya, Tina, Lee, Jessica, Scott, David and Keith; good friends, Christie and Peter Breaker and family of West Bend; and other relatives and many great friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Eleanore Olson; his in-laws, Robert and Josephine Franke; his sister, Janelle; and two nephews, Rodney and Nick.
A celebration of Gary’s life will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. in the Walnut Room at Holy Angels School. Please enter using the Eighth Avenue entrance. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Kathy Hospice, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the American Cancer Society or the Ronald McDonald House are appreciated.
