John F. BaasJohn F. Baas was born to Eternal Life on July 5, 2015, at the age of 77 years at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. A celebration of John’s life will be at Mueller Funeral Home, 979 N. Green Bay Road, Grafton, on Friday, July 10, 2015, at 1 p.m. A visitation will take place prior to the funeral service at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Friday. Burial will take place on Friday at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Grafton following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Ozaukee County Humane Society are appreciated.

John was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Saukville and grew up on the family farm in Saukville. He graduated from Port Washington High School, class of 1955. He joined the Army National Guard in October of 1961. He was stationed in West Bend. He served 10 months active duty at Fort Lewis, Wash., returning to Wisconsin in August of 1962, where he earned his degree in small engine repair while serving the remainder of his military service in West Bend. He was an active member of the Saukville Legion Post #470. He continued to work on the family farm as well as Johnson Brass, Mercury Marine and Monarch Corporation as a CNC boring bar machinist. John was very active in sports. He played baseball for Land O’ Lakes. He loved the Milwaukee Brewers. He also loved coaching and playing ice hockey with his son, Nathan, and going to Admirals games with his family. He was an active fisherman, hunter and enjoyed camping outings. His dogs Sassy and Buster were his best friends.

John is survived by his four children, Deanna Savage, Jaymie (Jason) Lacey, Lisa (David O’Bryant) Baas and Nathan (Brittani) Baas. Dear brother of Wallace (Barbara) Baas. Also survived by three grandchildren, Anthony Lacey, Justin O’Bryant and Phoenix Baas. John is further survived by several nieces and nephews who meant a great deal to him. John was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Hilda (nee Lemke) Baas.
