She was born on July 11, 1919, in Oakfield, the daughter of Otto and Mattie (nee Wittlief) Wiegert. Esther married Benjamin J. Hoerth in Illinois on Oct. 27, 1934, and celebrated nearly 54 years together until Benj’s death on Aug. 9, 1988.
After their marriage, Esther and Benj farmed for many years at various locations; when they ceased farming, they moved to Hartford in 1956. Esther lived in the same family home in Hartford until she entered an assisted living facility.
