Kathleen H. Kies, 87

Kathleen H. Kies, nee Casper, formerly Gumm, of West Bend, was called home by our heavenly Father on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the age of 87. She was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Newburg to the late Frank and Alma (nee Bell) Casper.
She grew up in the Newburg area, attending local schools. She graduated from West Bend High School with the class of 1945.
On June 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marvin R. Gumm in Newburg. Marvin predeceased Dec. 25, 1983.
She married Ralph P. Kies on Nov. 25, 1984, in West Bend. Ralph predeceased July 8, 1999.
Kathleen was a charter and active member of the S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm Post 486 American Legion Auxillary in Jackson, holding various positions. She also was involved with the American Red Cross Washington County chapter for many years.
In addition to being a loving mother, she volunteered her time at Southern Colony in Union Grove. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, gardening and her Manhattans. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Rusty) De Gueme, Scott (Audrey) Gumm, Kay (Mark) Gundrum, Peter (special friend Dawn), Sue (Rick) Kell and special loved one Merlin Wilkens; grandchildren, Steven (fiancé Kristin) DeGueme, Brandon Gumm, Michelle (Chris) Wilhelm, Eric Kell and Kyle Kell; great-grandchildren, Elias and Louella DeGueme, and Ashlyn Randall-Gumm; brother, Leonard Casper; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Glander; son, Kevin Gumm; daughter-in-law, Janice Gumm; and grandson Barry Gumm.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, from 4-6 p.m. at Schmidt Funeral in West Bend with an American Legion Auxillary Service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church. Inurnment will be held at Washington County Memorial Park at a later date.
