Iris E. Pfannerstill, 72
Oct. 7, 1942 -- Aug. 7, 2015
Iris E. Pfannerstill (nee Jacobson), age 72, of West Bend, formerly of Arpin and Eagle River, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Serenity Villa in Slinger, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1942, in Merrill to Oscar and Margaret (nee Arndt) Jacobson. Her childhood years were spent on Anvil Lake in Eagle River. This is where Iris met her husband, Ron Pfannerstill, whom she was later united in marriage to on Oct. 29, 1960, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Eagle River.
Together, Iris and Ron raised their family on a hobby farm in Allenton and later in Arpin. Iris had a great love for the outdoors and spent many hours taking care of all of “God’s furry creatures,” nurturing the flower beds and planting and weeding the abundant vegetable garden. Iris also spent a lot of time with her family and friends at her lake home on the shores of Birch and Eleanor lakes. Iris was best known for her endless tube rides around the lake, her distinct loon calls, her awe-inspiring campfires and, most importantly, always making everyone feel welcome at “The Iris Inn.”
Iris was a caring and compassionate woman who stayed at home to raise her four children and care for the hobby farm. She later graduated with her licensed practical nursing degree and worked for many years at the Marshfield Living Center and the Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In addition to her work, Iris loved to volunteer in the community and support many charitable causes. Among them included St. Ben’s meal program in Milwaukee, Hope Lodge in Marshfield, American Cancer Society and Relay for Life, The Gingerbread House of West Bend and the Washington County Humane Society. Iris is survived by her loving children, Heidi (Tim) Miller of Merton, Reba Pfannerstill of West Bend, Noel (Jennifer) Pfannerstill of Wilmette, Illinois, and Jennifer (Tim) Purnell of Hubertus; 10 cherished grandchildren, Casey, Hailee, Tori, Savannah, Kali, Meg, Haidyn, Charlotte, Sawyer and Bode; her dear sister, Kathy Gresher of Berkley, California; dear brother- in-law, Bob (Debbie) Pfannerstill of Murray, Kentucky; and her dear nephew, Chuck Gresher of Oakland, California. She is further survived by many other loved relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Margaret Jacobson, and her beloved husband of 42 years, Ron Pfannerstill.
