James R. Gagan, “Jim,” 86, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Cedar Bay West. He was born July, 10 1929, to John and Helen (nee Reinhardt) Gagan. Jim married Phyllis (nee Wickman) on Sept. 5, 1953, in West Bend at Holy Angels Parish.
Jim was a truck driver for all of his working years. He enjoyed working on garden tractors and tinkering on them. During the winter months, he liked to snowmobile and help the neighbors with snow removal. Jim was a skilled mechanic. He stayed connected with and cared for many family and friends. Jim never missed a Milwaukee Brewers game. He enjoyed attending games with his wife, Phyllis, and friends. Jim and Phyllis were fans of polka music and enjoyed many dances together.
Jim is survived by his children, Paul (Cynthia) Gagan and Joan (Michael) Bauer; grandchildren, Carli (Tom) Weber, Sara (Shane) Giza, Kyle (Christy) Gagan and Andrew (Amanda) Bauer; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Richard (Janet) Gagan and Mary (Eric) Cunningham. Jim is further survived by other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; great-granddaughter, Abigail Giza; and other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Parish (138 N. Eighth Ave., West Bend, WI 53095) on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Repenshek presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Memorials to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 902, Pewaukee, WI 53072) or the Cedar Community Foundation (113 Cedar Ridge Drive, West Bend, WI 53095) are appreciated.
