Mary Joan E. Bruecher, “Sis,” age 79, of Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, formerly of East Woodruff Street, Port Washington, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 12, 2015, at Lasata, where she resided with her husband, Larry, for the past three years.
Mary Jo was born on Jan. 5, 1936, in Milwaukee, daughter of Frank and Leona Schiller Lorge. As a young girl, her family moved to Port Washington, where she attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Port Washington High School.
Over the years she raised her family and kept a happy home. If you asked Mary Jo, she would say her most important occupation was “friend” and her job was always to provide a listening ear. For over 15 years she worked in the deli of the Sentry Store in Port Washington. On Aug. 22, 1980, Mary Jo and Lawrence E. “Larry” Bruecher married at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington. She always provided smiles and laughter and was the heart of their combined families.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, John (Grace) Binsfeld of Jackson, Michael Binsfeld of Port Washington, Judy Konicek of Jackson, Peggy Albanese of Grafton, Ron (Jeannie) Binsfeld of Oostburg and Maribeth Binsfeld of Port Washington; Larry’s children, Susan (Steve) Klein of Grafton, Giles Bruecher of Port Washington and Lisa (Troy) Charbarneau of Gleason; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way; her sister, Carol Ann Filo of Port Washington; her brothers, Jim (Ruth) Lorge and Bob (Carol) Lorge, both of Port Washington, and Dick Lorge of Victor, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Joan Lorge of Appleton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Phillip Charbarneau; her brother, Eugene Lorge, and his wife Jean; her brother, Jerry Lorge; her sister-in-law, Roseann Lorge; her brother-in-law, Ron Bruecher, and his wife Mary. The family would also like to express their thanks for the kind and loving care that Mary Jo received as a resident at Lasata Care Center, especially the staff on One West, who cared for her like she was family.
Her Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1802 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Rev. Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant.
Visitation will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at church.
Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.
