Joanne Marie Harris, 65

Joanne Marie Harris (nee Schommer) passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at her home in Flagstaff, Arizona, at the age of 65. Born on Aug. 29, 1949, in West Bend to Marvin and Marilyn (Perkins) Schommer, she graduated from West Bend High School in 1967. After high school she moved to California and worked as a legal secretary and paralegal. It was in San Diego that Joanne opened her therapy business and grew her clientele to include professional athletes and movie stars from Los Angeles.

Joanne married the love of her life, Fred Harris, on Mount Pinos in California, and was happily married for 31 years. Fredís career took them from California to Arizona. One of their passions was hunting mushrooms together near their home in Arizona, and when visiting relatives in California and Wisconsin. Joanne never outgrew the thrill of a mushroom hunt, particularly when chanterelles were involved.

Joanne was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harlan and Evie Harris, and her father, Marvin Schommer. Joanne leaves many loving memories to be cherished by her beloved husband, Fred Harris; her son, Thomas Harris; her mother, Marilyn (Perkins) Schommer; her siblings, Nick (Janet) Schommer, Gary (Debbie) Schommer, Mark Schommer, Dan (Amy) Schommer, Bob (Lorie) Schommer, Fred (Patty) Schommer, Mary (Gary) Wild, Rich (Bonnie) Schommer and Brian (Lynn) Schommer; her sisters-in-law, Sally Holsinger and Susan Harris; and brother-in-law, Frank Harris. Joanne is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. Eighth Ave., West Bend. Friends and relatives are invited to the church for visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the memorial service and Mass at 11 a.m.
