Vernon O. Kumrow, 87
Vernon O. Kumrow, 87, of the town of Scott, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Vernon was born July 26, 1928, in the town of Scott, the son of the late Gerhard and Leona (Ramthum) Kumrow. He attended LaFollette Grade School in the town of Sherman. On Aug. 21, 1954, Vernon was united in marriage to Myrtle Lueke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.
Vernon purchased his first milk route in 1949 and became self-employed as a milk hauler to Passini Cheese in the town of Mitchell for more than 25 years. He was also employed in the milk plant and hauled to Schneider Cheese in the town of Lima for more than 25 years. Vernon and his wife operated Kumrowís Mink Ranch for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-52 and was a member of Random Lake VFW Post 10820.
Vernon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. He was a member of Sheboygan Lake Shore Pigeon Club, a former member of the Kettle Moraine Mink Ranch Association and a former project leader in the Scott Pioneers 4H Club. Vernon attended Adell Senior Center where he enjoyed playing sheepshead. His hobbies were hunting and raising small animals. Vernon enjoyed his milk route, spending time at his sonís farm and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those Vernon leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Myrtle; a son, Gerald (Cheri) Kumrow of Adell; two daughters, Violet (Dan) Pfeifer of Adell and Susan (Tony) Deheck of Sheboygan Falls; five grandchildren, Gary Kumrow, Heather Pfeifer, Jade Pfeifer, Katie Deheck and Sarah Deheck; a brother, Ivan (Janet) Kumrow of Random Lake; a sister, Joyce (Butch) Butler of Cottage Grove; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome (Geraldine) Kumrow.
Funeral services for Vernon will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.
Vernonís family will greet relatives and friends at the church Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Joseph Fisher will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
