Leona C. Lord, 95
Nov. 4, 1920 — Nov. 12, 2015

Leona C. Lord, 95 Leona C. Lord (nee Anders), 95, of West Bend, was taken peacefully into the arms of God on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015. She had been in the care of the Samaritan Health Center. Leona was born Nov. 4, 1920, to the late Herman and Theresia (nee Bertram) Anders.

She was born in North Fond du Lac and later the family moved to the Campbellsport area. Her parents were farmers and it was a life she enjoyed. So many of her fondest memories and stories revolved around the family farms, even long into her Alzheimer’s years.

She attended St. Matthew’s Grade School and graduated in 1937 from Campbellsport High School. She went on to continue her education at St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac. She received her registered nurse degree in 1942. As a registered nurse, she worked in Sheboygan, Milwaukee, Fond du Lac and West Bend, to name a few.

She met Franklin G. Lord and they were married May 1, 1945, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. They moved to West Bend, where Franklin worked for the White House Milk Co. and she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She continued working until her first of six children was born in 1947. She then stayed home to raise her family.

She enjoyed her craftiness. Besides helping out at Holy Angels School and Church, she did very well for herself in painting, ceramics, sewing, knitting and lots of beautiful crocheting. She kept up with her love for music until the day she died.

Her husband unfortunately died too young. She then went back to work in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she worked until she retired. Her survivors include five children, Therese (Glen) Ellefsen of West Bend, Janice Maes of Nevada, Frank (Debra) of West Bend, Steven M. (Marg) of West Bend and Jackie (Arnold) Lord of West Bend; 13 grandchildren, Craig (Katie) Ellefsen, Ryan (Amy) Ellefsen, Davina Maes, Zachary Maes, Joe Lord, Frank (Charlie) Lord, Sam Lord, Steve (Megan) Lord Jr., Josh Lord, Sara (Jake) Brehmer, Ehrin Scott, Kayla Nettesheim and Jenna Nettesheim; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, David Anders of Green Bay; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Franklin, who died in 1975, her daughter Eva Lord-Scott, her husband’s brothers and sisters, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Edmund, Roman and Harold; one sister, Alieta Feucht; and one son-in-law, David Maes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Private burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at the church during a period of visitation.

Leona’s family would like to give a special thank you to the great care given to their mom for the last two and a half years by the staff on the third floor of the Samaritan Health Center, to the staff of Hospice Advantage and to Dr. Mian.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family. Online guestbook and condolences are available at www.schmidtfuneralhome.com.
