Virginia M. “Ginny” Doka (nee Engel), of Jackson, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 93. She was born May 17, 1922, in Milwaukee to the late George and Clara (nee Betz) Engel.
During World War II, she worked at Masterlock. She later became employed at Oster Manufacturing as a press operator, retiring after more than 38 years with the company.
Since 2007, Ginny volunteered her time and talent to knit scarves for students at Decorah Elementary School in West Bend.
Her survivors include one niece, Sandra (David) Wegner; one nephew, Richard (Cheryl) Kuchenbecker; one niece-in-law, Connie Stengel; three great-nephews and two great-nieces, Kevin, Stephanie, Leroy, Britni and Garrett; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Laurie (Robert) Stengel and Mary Ann (Alfred) Kuchenbecker; one nephew, Gerald Stengel; and a dear friend and longtime companion, Bill Castenholz.
A gathering celebrating Ginny’s life will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson. Private burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.
