Dale W. Maas, 92, of Hartford passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Wauwatosa.

He was born March 29, 1923, in Hartford to William and Genevieve (nee Zingsheim) Maas. Dale was united in marriage to Dorothy Selmikeit on April 15, 1944, at the Sioux Falls Army Air Force Base in South Dakota. Dorothy passed away June 30, 1981. Dale remarried June 27, 1982, to Hilda Mertz-Gerber.

Dale served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1942-45. He was a radio operator gunner on a B-17 Bomber. He had 30 missions in the European Theater. He was a member of the Hartford VFW Post 8834 and the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19. Dale worked at Libby-McNeil-Libby for 42-and-a-half years, retiring as the plant supervisor. Dale was man of generosity. He gave himself to serve as a city of Hartford alderman for 12 years. He was the past president of the Hartford Senior Friends, where he was also the chaplain for many years, saying the prayers of farewell to many of his friends. He will be remembered fondly for his outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed dearly.

Dale is survived by his children, Lynn (James) Bobik, Robert (Kathleen) Maas and Allan (Sally) Maas; cherished grandchildren, Christine, Lorri, Geoff, Aaron, David and Brian; and beloved great-grandchildren, Emma, Cole, and Olivia. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Dorothy and Hilda; and a grandson, Robert Jr.

Funeral services for Dale will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, Wisconsin 53027) with the Rev. James Schleif officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Interment will be in Old St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford Memorials to the Hartford Senior Friends (care of the Hartford Senior Center, 730 Highland Ave., Hartford, WI 53027) are appreciated.
