Carl J. Schramm, 93
July 11, 1922 ó Dec. 31, 2015
Carl J. Schramm, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at St. Josephís Hospital of West Bend on Dec. 31, 2015, at the age of 93. Carl was born in Cedarburg on July 11, 1922, the son of the late Arthur and Sarah (nee Wesenberg) Schramm. Carl was united in marriage to Hertha I. (nee Rusch) on June 19, 1948, at Davidís Star Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Carl worked at Rockfield Canning Co. in Rockfield as a young adult. Following that, he worked at Mercury Marine in Cedarburg and Fond du Lac until he retired at 65. After his retirement he used his gifts of problem-solving and mechanical skills at Davidís Star. He also played a large part as a founding father of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School. Both ministries were very dear to his heart. He was also a strong advocate of the daughter congregation of Davidís Star Lutheran Church called Morning Star Lutheran church and School. Carl was a life-long member of Davidís Star Lutheran Church. He humbly held several positions including the School Board and Recording Secretary for Davidís Star for many years. He enjoyed playing center field for the church baseball team and played on the church dartball team. Throughout the years, he liked going to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. Most of all, Carl loved doing things with his family. He treasured the family vacations on Summit Lake where he enjoyed fishing and waterskiing until he was 85 years old. He enjoyed giving rides to children on his merry-go-round, which he built in 1955. His memory will be with us forever.
Carl is survived by his wife, Hertha I. (nee Rusch); children, Lois (Tom) Most, Darwin (Bonnie) Schramm and Diane (David) Behm; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Ziemer and Millie Kaiser. Carl is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Schramm.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Davidís Star Evangelical Lutheran Church (2740 Davidís Star Drive, Jackson). Interment will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Davidís Star Evangelical Lutheran Church or Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School are appreciated.
