M. LaRae German (nee Umbs) was called home to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the age of 85. She was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Hartford to the late Raymond and Lorrayne (nee Ritger) Umbs. LaRae was a lifelong resident of the Allenton area. As a young lady, she would spend time at her Grandma and Grandpa Ritger’s cottage on Big Cedar Lake.

On June 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to John “Jack” German at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Allenton.

For many years, LaRae and Jack owned and operated the Little Red Inn in St. Lawrence.

Throughout her life, she willingly gave of her time. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, singing with the choir for 35 years. She also served as a 4-H leader for music and drama, and as a Cub Scout leader. She was a member of Women’s Aglow and a bible study group.

LaRae loved spending time with her family. The shared pictures, memories of trips to the family cottage in Eagle River, her hand-made quilts and sewing items will all be cherished for years to come.

Later in life, she and Jack enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.
