Elda M. Sexton, 91 Elda M. Sexton, formerly of Hartford, was freed from all her pain Feb. 20, 2016, at the age of 91.

She was born in Trieste, Italy, on Sept. 24, 1924, the daughter of Tullo and Enza (nee Aitoro) Taormina. In 1924, they moved to Rome where they lived until 1947. During World War II, she worked for the Red Cross in Rome where she met her sweetheart ďGI GeorgeĒ Sexton. She then came to America to marry George. They were married 57 years, raised four children and fostered seven foster babies. Elda retired from Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown after many years of service there. When the Rev. George become pastor of St. Aidanís Episcopal Church, they moved to Hartford, which they consider their home. Elda continued her commitment to others as director of the Hartford Food Pantry, Ladies Guild of St. Aidanís and frequent babysitter for her five grandchildren. Elda will be known best for her great love of children, especially her foster babies, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for family and friends and trays of lasagna were the center of many gatherings.

Special appreciation to the Rev. Mike Tess for his support all these years and to Riverhills West Nursing Home and Allay Hospice for their loving care in these past few years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. George F. Sexton; devoted mother of Cynthia (Rick) Kempfer, Wendy (Marc) Potochnik, Steven (Georgina) Sexton, Robert J. Sexton; foster mother to seven; adoring grandmother to Robert (Bethany), Kathryn (Zach), Connie (Ben), Anthony (Candace) and Michael (Jenna); and loving great-grandmother to Caleb, Cora, Sophie, Soren, Anthony, Charlotte, Evelyn and Emmett. She is further survived and will be missed by family and friends in this country and her homeland, Italy.

A special thank you to the staff at River Hills West Nursing Home and Allay Hospice for their loving care of Elda.

Family will receive relative and friends from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at St. Aidanís Episcopal Church (670 E. Monroe Ave., Hartford, WI). Memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at church. The Revs. Mike Tess and Tom Ackerman will officiate. Elda and the Rev. Georgeís urn will remain in the churchís columbarium.

Memorials may be made to the Hartford Food Pantry where she devoted much of her time or St. Aidanís Parish Hartford.
