Rita Cecilia Uselding Penkwitz, 82

Port Washington native Rita C. Penkwitz passed away suddenly but peacefully Sunday, March 6, 2016, at St. Joe’s Hospital in West Bend at the age of 82.

Rita was born in Port Washington on Aug. 12, 1933, the beautiful only daughter of Ann (Aigner) and Alois Uselding. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Port Washington High School.

She met and fell in love with Bill Penkwitz and they were married at St. Francis Borgia Church in Cedarburg on Jan. 14, 1956. They had four children together, all boys.

Her love of rummage sales was exceeded only by her fascination with meeting and talking to people. Bill and Rita owned and operated the Myra Inn outside of West Bend for several years, where Rita was in her element meeting and engaging with customers while she was pouring and frying.

She is survived by her husband, Bill of West Bend; her sons, Mark of Belgium, Mike of Newburg, Matt (Debby) of Port Washington and Marty of Mayville; her grandchildren, Katherine (Jason) of Sheboygan, Christopher of Belgium, Bob of Verona and Brian of Grafton; and one great-grandchild.

She is further survived by her brother, Kurt (Jean) of Lady Lake, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Uselding.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Philip Funeral Home at 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend. A private family service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Rita’s name.
