Steven James Volkmann, 36
March 15, 1980 — March 17, 2016

Steven James Volkmann, 36, of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly March 17, 2016. Steve was born March 15, 1980, to Steven and Gail (nee Godersky) in San Diego. Steve was united in marriage with Zoila (nee Baltazar-Reyes) on Nov. 27, 1998.

Steve was a machine operator at Carlson Tool & Manufacturing. He enjoyed sports (especially the Green Bay Packers), playing golf with his uncle Bob, fishing, talking politics and playing video games with his daughter, Stephanie. He was a handyman who could fix anything. Steve took great pride in his garden and flowers. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and papa.

Steve is survived by his wife of 18 years, Zoila; his 11-year-old daughter, Stephanie; father, Steven (Sharon) Volkmann; brother, Paul Volkmann; nephew, Nolan; uncle and best friend, Bob (Cristie) Volkmann; uncles, Bill Volkmann, Jerry (Carron) Godersky and Tom DeBroux; aunts, Donna (Don) Greiveldinger, Carla (Jeff) Leak and Paula (Kevin Schoeder) Freemen; cousin and best friend, Shawn Scheftgen; sister-in-law, Ana (John) Gesell; brother-in-law, Fernando (Carmen) Diaz; and mother-inlaw, “Mami” Zoila Reyes. Steven is further survived by many other brothers- and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gail (nee Godersky) Volkmann, and aunt, Geralyn Godersky.

A funeral service to honor Steve’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Eernisse Funeral Home (1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53012) with the Rev. Enrique Hernandez officiating. Visitation will take place from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family. Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg is honored to serve the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the first responders, Mequon Rescue, Columbia St. Mary’s and the staff at Froedtert Hospital for all the care, compassion and dedication they provided Steve.
