Stella Petrick LaPorte, 98
June 11, 1917 — March 31, 2016

Stella Petrick LaPorte, 98, born June 11, 1917, in Rusk County to Elton and Amy Davis, passed on to heaven March 31, 2016, at Samaritan Health Care Center in West Bend. Stella was born a twin sister to Della Davis, and graduated from Ladysmith High School. She was married to Stanley Petrick in Ladysmith, where they raised their four children. At the age of 95, she went to live with her daughter in West Bend.

Stella worked at Schultz Bros. Variety Store in Ladysmith for 30 years, where she was proficient at flower-arranging, creating Easter baskets and decorating. In her free time, she enjoyed many crafts, including working with driftwood, crocheting many afghans for family and friends, sewing, fishing, polka dancing, volunteering at the local hospital and she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VMA in Ladysmith.

Upon her marriage to Clifford LaPorte, she became a “snow bird,” and they both enjoyed the sun and fun in Florida for several years before illness caused them to settle in Glen Flora, and then Ladysmith. Stella enjoyed traveling to Germany (to visit her son), Alaska (to visit her sister, Della), Texas (to visit her son), California, Minnesota and Illinois.

Her survivors include her sister, Marvel Kush of Marcell, Minnesota; son, Thomas Petrick of Lampasas, Texas; daughter, Kathryn Parker of West Bend; grandchildren, Stephanie (Will) Luecke of Theresa and Bob Parker of West Bend; great-grandchild, Michael Parker of West Bend; step-grandchildren, Kelly Reavy of Maryland, Kourtney Borchers of New Jersey, Kathy Dykstra, Tammy Their, William Brunschmidt, Melissa Myers, Derreck Brunschmidt and Lovie Terry; former daughter-in-law, Jane of Virginia; and cousin, Vivian Sorenson of Ladysmith. She is also survived by numerous step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Those already in heaven include her twin sister, Della Voigt (2015); brothers, Floyd and Vernon Davis; husbands, Stanley Petrick and Clifford LaPorte; sons, Michael Petrick and Richard Petrick; an infant daughter, Jane; brothers-in-law, Rudy Voigt and Joseph Kush; sister-in-law, Ruth Davis; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Petrick.

Nash-Jakan Funeral Home of Ladysmith is handling arrangements for Stella’s funeral and burial. She will be buried next to Stanley Petrick and her two sons at Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6.
