Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016, at noon at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 10729 W. Freistadt Road, Mequon, for Betty Mae Pipkorn (nee Uhlig) of Mequon, who died peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the age of 85 years at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Campus. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation at the church will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church appreciated. Betty was born at home in Cedarburg Oct. 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Richard F. and Amanda (nee Klenk) Uhlig. She was the loving eldest of seven siblings. In 1950, she was joined in marriage to her surviving husband, Harold Alvin Pipkorn. Their 64year marriage was blessed with four children and one foster child, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Betty was involved in Ozaukee County Homemakers and 4-H Clubs for more than 25 years. She was an accomplished office manager, accountant, seamstress and baker, winning many prizes at the county and state fairs. She taught adult needlepoint classes at the Ozaukee Extension university and worked for Sears as display coordinator until her retirement, at which point she went on to get her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University Wisconsin. She was involved, documented and volunteered with the Milwaukee Folk Festival and the Alta Kameraden band of Freistadt, touring with them and her husband in Europe. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends. Betty is eternally resting in the arms of the Lord.
Betty is survived by her husband, Harold Alvin Pipkorn; three children, Wendy (Dennis) Bruss, SueAnn (Mark) Winner and John (JoAnn) Pipkorn; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, loving extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Heidi, one sister and one brother.
