Hazel M. Kimla (nee Schommer) of Fond du Lac, formerly West Bend, passed away peacefully April 27, 2016, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. Hazel was born in Menominee to John and Irene Schommer on Jan. 29, 1918. Her father passed away in 1919. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. Kimla on Oct. 9, 1939, at Holy Angels church in West Bend.
Hazel was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Church. She was a member of the West Bend Civil Air Patrol and had a pilot license to fly small planes. She was active with the children’s Boy and Girl Scout activities. Hazel enjoyed watching baseball and NASCAR races.
She is survived by her children, Kaye Kimla, Robert and Dotty Kimla, and Linda Scharrer; granddaughters, Erin and Stefanie Kimla; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Kimla, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Kimla; sons, Richard Kimla and Mark Kimla; and son-in-law, Lawrence Scharrer.
