Mr. Brian V. Lange, of Waubeka, passed away Monday evening, April 25, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 78.
Brian was born June 18, 1937, in Wauwatosa, the son of Arthur and Ruth (nee Gierke) Lange. After high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On Oct. 30, 1965, he was united in marriage with Averill McHugh in West Bend. For 20 years, he worked as a technical writer at AquaChem in Milwaukee.
Brian was a fan of children’s soccer, and coached his children when they were younger. He was a historian and was passionate about the political process and being involved in his community. As an avid outdoorsman and environmentalist, he belonged to the Sierra Club. He enjoyed camping and canoeing with his family, inspired by hunting outings with his father when he was younger.
Brian is survived by his wife, Averill, and their children, Amy (Jacen) Johnson of Bellingham, Washington, and Andrew Lange of Port Washington. He is further survived by five grandchildren, Giles, Elexia, Hunter, Devlin and Dani; great-granddaughter, Tatiana; siblings, Arthur Lange Jr., Charlotte Prochaska, Denise Baker and Eugene (Sandy) Lange; his mother-in-law, Florence McHugh of Newburg; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Annette Bailen.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Union Cemetery in Newburg with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
