Eugene A. Becker, 91
Sept. 18, 1924 — May 18, 2016
Eugene A. “Fritz” Becker, 91, of Hartford, passed away at home with his wife by his side Wednesday, May 18, 2016. His last wish was granted.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1924, in Slinger to Emil and Esther (nee Faber) Becker. Fritz was united in marriage to Theresa Hahn on April 16, 1955, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger.
Fritz worked at Tews Gravel Pit in Colgate for 45 years as a loader operator. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 for more than 60 years.
After working all day, Fritz came home to his true love of working the land and taking care of his beef cattle, ducks, geese and chickens. Every year he enjoyed planting and harvesting his gardens. Fritz’s motto was, “You gotta love the land, and you gotta love the animals.” He was a very proud man who never said much, but we knew he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa; his children, Ginny (Dan) Allar of Hartford, Patsy (Jim) Lulich of Hartford, Marlene (Thomas) Rohlinger of Kewaskum, Diane (Kyle) Hawthorne of Kewaskum and Gene (Nancy) Becker of Hartford; and grandchildren, Sheila (Jim) Trost, Sharon (Justin) Ziebell, Mike Allar, Melissa Allar, Steven (Dana) Allar, Mitch (fiance Kayla) Allar, Jenna Lulich, Alissa (special friend Jake) Lulich, Jessica Daniel, Craig Renzaglia, Scotti Marie Mitchell, Shelby Grimes, Cody Grimes, Paige (Ryan) Schmitt and Erik (special friend Melissa) Becker. He is further survived by 19 great-grandchildren; his brother, John Becker, and sister-in-law, Bernie Becker; and brother-in-law, LaVerne Guetzke, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Fritz is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roman, Donald and Emil; and a sister, Shirley Guetzke.
Funeral services for Fritz will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Richard Stoffel officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Shimon Funeral Home.
