Gerald L. “Jerry” Cook, of Grafton, passed away at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital, in Mequon, on May 26, 2016, at the age of 77 years.
Jerry was born on Nov. 9, 1938, in Arlington, Iowa, the son of the late Lloyd Cook and the late Mattie (nee Ladwig) Cook.
When Jerry was a little boy, his family relocated to Wisconsin. He graduated from Spooner High School and then went on to serve his country in the United States Army, while being stationed in Hawaii.
Jerry was united in marriage to Sharon Vorpahl, on March 22, 1969, at the Mitchell Park Domes. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Brian, Annette, Christopher and Dawn.
Jerry was employed by A.O. Smith for over 29 years, working as a big press dye setter. Upon his retirement from A.O. Smith in 1998, Jerry drove semitruck for Direct Drive Express for some years.
Jerry was a member of the Color Guard as well as the firing detail for the Rose-Harms American Legion Post #355 in Grafton. He was an avid Packers fan, Brewers fan and he loved to spend time in the outdoors hunting and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Cook; children, Annette (Nick) Bischoff, Christopher Cook and Dawn (Bill) Anderson; grandsons, Joshua Lemanski, Adam Cook and Joe Cook; and siblings, Vonna (John) Duch, Joyce Mortier and Vanetta (Eddie) Ness. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Brian Cook, his parents and four siblings.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, 6 p.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, in Grafton.
