Steven L. Ehlers, of Cedarburg. Born Dec. 9, 1950, and died peacefully on May 31, 2016, at the age of 65 years from cancer. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy; sons, Andy and Peter (fiancée Rachael Holly) Ehlers; father, Larry Ehlers; sister, Patty (Jay Judkins) Ehlers Peterson; brother, Jeff (Michelle Mooney) Ehlers; brother-in-law, James (Brenda) Peterson; and sister-in-law, Pam (James) Keller, as well as nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Carol.

Steven was the owner of Larry’s Market in Brown Deer for 21 years, along with his wife, Cindy. Steve served on the board of the American Cheese Society (ACS), the Dairy Business Innovation Center and was a retail packaging judge for the World and U.S. Cheese Championships, as well as an aesthetic judge for ACS. Steve was honored to be inducted into the Guildes des Fromagers. Steve enjoyed working with new cheesemakers and served as a mentor for many startup food products.

Steve was a past-president of the Cedarburg Library Board and served on the Cedarburg Board of Appeals. Cindy and Steve were advocates for the Families Anonymous Program.

Steve’s son Peter said, “He was an inspiration to friends, family and his community and will be greatly missed.”

A Celebration of Life for Steven will be held Sunday, July 10, 2016, at The Watermark at Shully’s, 146 Green Bay Road, Thiensville, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Special Remembrances at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Steve requested memorials be sent to Nova Counseling Services Inc., 3240 Jackson St., Oshkosh, WI 54901.
