Gwendolyn Serdan, 73
In 1965 they moved to West Bend, where they raised their family. Gwen and John owned and operated Video Plus in West Bend along with other locations for 23 years. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Gwen would craft, sew and create many special gifts to give to family and friends. She loved the holidays and poured all her love into them to make them fun, spectacular and special for her family, friends and anyone else that joined them, excluding no one. John and Gwen welcomed relatives, friends and strangers into their home with open arms. There were often relatives, friends and significant others of their kids that lived with them at various times.
Gwen spent the last 18 years loving, doting, babysitting, transporting and cheering on her five grandchildren. She loved every minute of it and had a very special relationship with each of them. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John Serdan of West Bend; her three children, Theresa (Neil) Narveson of West Bend, Mark (Melissa) Serdan of West Bend and Brad Serdan of Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Andrea, Lindsey and Justin Narveson; Megan and Mitchell Serdan; two brothers, Dale Doehler of Watertown and Gary Christensen of Florida; and nieces, nephews, special friends and other relatives. Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Milton Doehler; her mother, Norma Groshek; and a brother, Mickey Doehler.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9, in Our Saviors Lutheran Church (1044 S. Silverbrook Drive, West Bend). A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held Saturday from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church.
Special thanks to the community, West Bend City Police and EMTs, and the nurses and doctors of St. Joseph’s Hospital of West Bend for the care given to Gwen.
