Gerald J. Schumacher, 80
Gerald J. “Jerry” Schumacher, 80, of Rubicon, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Life Care Hospital of Wisconsin in Pewaukee, surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 25, 1935, in Milwaukee to Herbert and Bernadette (nee Becker) Schumacher. He was united in marriage to Jeannette Hefter on Sept. 12, 1959, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nenno.
Jerry was the owner/operator of Rubicon Builders for many years until his son took over. He then operated Hardwood Design and Millwork in Minocqua for five years. He was affiliated with a hunting and guide service in British Columbia. He loved woodworking, hunting, wine making and polka music. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Rubicon.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeannette; beloved father of John (Dawn) of Slinger, Joanne (Steve) Lulich of Juneau, Joseph (Wendy) of Hartford and Julie (Eric) Goodwater of Hartford; proud grandpa to Bradley, Jason, Matthew, Samantha, Brittany, Brooke, Grace and Colin; is survived by his sisters, Margaret Mary Schmitt of Rubicon and Mary Lou Gauthier of Rubicon; sisters-in-law, Cecelia (Dave) Dukelow of Rubicon, Marian Meyer of Oregon, Dorothy Konrath of Allenton and Florence (Fred) Krahn of Missouri; and brother-in-law, Richard Hefter of Hartland. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Sylvester and Marcella Hefter; brother, Ralph Schumacher; sister, Pat (Bob) Baus; and brothers-in-law, Peter Schmitt, Norman Gauthier, Hubert Konrath and Norbert Meyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 11, at St. John Catholic Church, (W1170 Rome Road, Rubicon) with the Rev. David LaPlante officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends from 3 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. Mass on Monday at the church.
Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Rubicon.
