Myrtle L. Hassinger, 94

Myrtle L. Hassinger (nee Soyk), 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend. She was born July 11, 1922, to Albert and Louise (nee Viestadt) Soyk.

On Sept. 11, 1943, Myrtle devoted her love and her life to Walter J. Hassinger at St. Johnís Church in West Bend. After marriage, the couple began a family of their own that they raised on the family farm. Myrtle resided on this family farm her entire life.

Myrtle worked at the Amity, was a member of the Loyal Daughters (Womenís Fellowship), helped prepare the chili supper at St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Slinger, embroidered, was involved in quilting and everyone loved her homemade recipes. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong member of St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Slinger. She especially enjoyed going to polka festivals and dancing in the loving arms of her husband, Walter.

Myrtle is survived by her children, Karen (Donald) Beine, James (Loren) Hassinger, Ken (Deborah) Hassinger and Jerry (special friend Deborah Jinkins) Hassinger; her cherished grandchildren, Christine (Scot) Schneider, Cheri (Frank) Verhunce, Amy (Nate) Janz, Tracey, Jamie (Erica), Sara (Doug) Ney, Jeffrey, Madelyn, Jason (Brianna), Jacklyn, Jennifer (Jody) Stubbe, and Rebecca (Ben Boettcher) Hassinger; and adored great-grandchildren, Troy and Matthew Schneider, Hudson Hassinger, Damion, Dylan, Devon and Lacy Stubbe, Jemma Janz, Marshal Hassinger, Aubree Hassinger. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Myrtle is preceded in death by her loving and cherished husband, Walter, brothers, sisters and all her in-laws.

A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. Johnís UCC (520 W. Washington St., Slinger,) with the Rev. Gerald Schrankler presiding. Visitation will be from 3-5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Diefenbachís Cemetery (Arthur Road and Highway NN).
