Gary A. Zimmerman Sr., 78, of Green Lake, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at home with his family by his side.
Gary was born June 7, 1938, in Green Bay, the son of Harold and Edith Zimmerman. He graduated from Wauwatosa High School and went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, receiving his bachelorís degree. On Dec. 29, 1956, Gary married Judy June in Milwaukee. He was employed with Wilson Sporting Goods, and was CEO of Creative Leather & Vinyl in Grafton and director of golf at Lawsonia Golf Course.
Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy of Green Lake; son, Gary (Beth) Jr. of Brookfield, and their children, Gary (Kelly) III, and great-granddaughter, Ayla, all of Hartland, and Nicole (Dustin) Bakalars of Oconomowoc; his daughter, Mary (Ron) Peter of Wauwatosa and their children, Alex Peter of Milwaukee and Max Peter of Wauwatosa; sister, Mary Dell (Robert) Sommers of Cookville, Tennessee; sister-in-law and brother- in-law, Geri and Dan Schwabe Sr.; and special friends, Terry and Sue Steldt of West Bend. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his special cat, Gucci.
A casual celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home (515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971). A memorial is being established in his name.
