Joan Estelle (Birthrong) Roy, 90, from Hot Springs, Ark. and Cedarburg, passed away July 8, 2016, while at Lawlis Hospice Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Moline, Ill., to Lola and Everett Birthrong, who preceded her in death. Joan married John H. Roy (passed away 2011) on Oct. 20, 1945, in Birmingham, Mich.
She is survived by daughter, Terry (Paul “Hammer”) Regnitz of Cedarburg and son, Robert Roy of Grafton. Also surviving her are three grandchildren, Caroline (Scott) Brandt of Cedarburg, John (Angela) Regnitz of Cedarburg and J. Vince Roy of Grafton. She was delighted with her four great-grandchildren, Reese Regnitz, Jackson Brandt, Kamryn Regnitz and Colton Brandt. Remembering nieces and nephew that are spread out over the United States.
Preceded her in death, brother, Jack Birthrong, sisters-in-laws Marilyn and Alice, and nephew Jeff.
Joan loved to golf in Arkansas, Florida and Wisconsin. She enjoyed bowling in Arkansas and Cedarburg. She read a lot. In her earlier years. She was an avid musky fisherperson in the Boulder Junction area.
The family wants to thank the staff of Lawlis Hospice for their loving care provided Joan during her last moments of life. Thank you to the staff from Horizon Home Care & Hospice for their help and support with Joan’s care.
