William A. MacNeill, 69 William A. “Bill” MacNeill, of West Bend, found peace July 17, 2016, at the age of 69.

He was the beloved friend and husband to Barb; proud father to Rob (Ali) and the late Samuel; devoted son to the late Samuel and Virginia; loving brother to the late Jane West; adoring grandfather to Chloe; caring stepparent to Charles Grover (Sara) and Corie Strange (John), and step-grandpa to Xavier, Lily, Bennett, Luke and Oliver; and special cousin to Christine (MacNeill) Hills (Bob), Morgan and Billy. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Bill was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan. Weekends often found him playing cribbage. His true love was sailing. His happiness was found on an Escow on Green Lake, where he was well-known as the “guy to beat.” He was an active member of the Green Lake Yacht Club, where he served as Commodore in 1993-94 and was the current treasurer. He served as Regatta Chair for numerous events on Green Lake. He was also a member of the ILYA and ILYA Bilge Pullers, U.S. Sailing Organization, and was on the Board of Directors of the Green Lake Sailing School.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Green Lake Sailing School (C/O GLYC, P.O. Box 684, Green Lake, WI 54941) are appreciated. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Norton’s of Green Lake (380 S. Lawson Drive, Green Lake) on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
