Chris was born in Milwaukee on April 9, 1943, the son of the late H. Russell and Delores (nee Dunbar) Austin. Chris was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1968. Chris married Carma and they were blessed with three sons. Carma has preceded Chris in death. On June 2, 1991, Chris was united in marriage to Lois Vondross at Unitarian Church North.
Chris enjoyed salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and in Door County. He loved traveling and was an avid shutterbug. He enjoyed tent camping with his family and they went to every state in the U.S. except Hawaii. He was a photojournalist for WTMJ 4 for 38 years. Chris was at the Ice Bowl in Green Bay, where he photographed the whole game from the top of the stadium. His family has too many photographs to count.
Chris is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Geoff (Susan), Karl (Debrann) and Andy; grandchildren, Braeden (Amanda) and Jerin Austin; great-grandchild, Noah Austin; brothers, Richard (Sage) and Steve Austin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Carma; parents, H. Russell and Delores; and stepmother, Dorothy Austin.
