Ronald “Whitey” W. Wagner, 73, of West Bend, passed away peacefully following a long and courageous battle with cancer Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at his home with his loving wife and family by his side.
He was born Nov. 6, 1942, to the late Helen Wagner (nee Kugler) in West Bend. He graduated from West Bend High School. He was drafted and honorably served in the United States Army for two years. On leave following basic training, he was united in marriage Aug. 2, 1966, to Susan Berres at St. Michael Catholic Church. Ron worked for the West Bend Co. for 45 years. He enjoyed woodworking, painting and handyman work on his son’s apartments. He liked to refinish furniture and was always working around the house. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of West Bend, a 25-year club member and usher. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those Ron leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Sue; son, Marvin (Terri) Wagner; three grandchildren, Bradley, Cassandra and Allen Wagner; brother, Robert “Sonny” Wagner; foster siblings, Lisa (Guy) Tesch, Kevin (Rhonda) Kalies and Angel (Brian) Skrentny; sisters-in-law, Audrey Bath and Marion Berres; grand dogs, Levi and Murphy; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Pat (Wilton) Kirchner and Lucille (Mike) Strupp; brother, Jerry Wagner; father- and mother-in law, Gregory and Marie Berres; sisterin- law, Virginia Wagner; brothersin- law, Richard Berres and Roger Berres; and foster parents, Louis and Evelyn Kalies.
A funeral service in remembrance of Ron will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral home (1315 W. Washington St., West Bend). Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Washington County Memorial Park.
The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
