Frederick K. Kasten, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation. He was born March 15, 1933, and was married to the love of his life, Judith (nee Slak) for 59 years.
Fred served in the U.S. Army and then worked for the city of Milwaukee. He served as a real estate developer and participated in various other endeavors until building and becoming the owner of the Kettle Moraine Bowl in Slinger. He was a member of the Jackson American Legion Post 486.
He was the beloved father of James (Fonda) Kasten, Thomas (Amy) Kasten, Karen (James) Meyers and Sandy (Todd) Sprinkmann; proud grandfather of Nikki (Brian) Williams, Kayla (Matthew) Carrell, Kyle (Sabrina Hattery) Kasten, Ryan Kasten, Cassandra and Cori Meyers; and great-grandfather of Samantha and Jack Williams, and Lilli and Violet Hattery-Kasten. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick C. and Agnes (nee Prochniewski) Kasten; sister, Arlene Patek; and brothers-inlaw, Jack Patek and Gerald Schmitt.
A funeral service will take place at noon Friday, Sept. 30, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI 53095) with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10-11:45 a.m. An American Legion walkthrough will take place at 11:45 a.m. Private Interment will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Milwaukee.
