Sanford Roy McEwen, 91 Sanford “Skip” Roy McEwen, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. He was born to Robert and Della (nee Conrath) McEwen on July 9, 1925, in Pennsylvania. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Hoch, on March 2, 1946, and together they had four children.

Skip was raised in Pennsylvania and moved to Wisconsin in 1953. He proudly worked for Gehl Co. for more than 40 years and retired in 1988. Skip was a longtime member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum. He loved camping, hunting and fishing, and was an avid sports enthusiast. He never missed a Milwaukee Brewers game. “Pap” (as he was affectionately known by many) was the happiest when he was spending time with his family and never had a loss for words.

Skip is survived by his loving daughters, Linda (Whitey) Uelmen and Gloria (George Christnovich) McEwen; his adoring grandchildren, Sheri (Andy) Kasten, Dave (Jann) Uelmen and Lisa (Randy) Geib; Skip’s pride and joy were his great-grandchildren, Amanda and Ashleigh Kasten, Shane (Tricia) Schutz, Kyle (Terri) Schutz, Madison Uelmen, and Lucy, Cooper and Clayton Geib; four precious great-great-grandchildren, Kellan, Beckett, Decker and Lennon Schutz with number five expected in December; special niece, Lori (Scott) Stonecipher and their children Erin and Erik; two sisters, Mikki Henry and May (Dick) Hecker; brother, Murray McEwen; sisters-in-law, Kathy McEwen, Marilyn Bowser, Donna Winningham and Sharon McKee; and brother-in-law, Robert (Peggie) Hoch. Skip is further survived by many loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be especially missed by his four-legged daughter, Chi-Chi.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; two beloved sons, David “Buzzy” and Ricky; and siblings, Elmer (Ginny) McEwen, Ruth (Vernon) Graff, Martha (Don) Knappenburger, Fred McEwen, Margaret McEwen, Ron Henry, Jim (Carolyn) Quillen, Ted Hoch, Junior Hoch and Bert Browser.

A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 28, at The Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend) with the Rev. Eric Kirkegaard presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Washington County Memorial Park.
