Merle V. Doege, 89

Merle V. Doege of Cedarburg, formerly of Saukville and Port Washington, passed away peacefully at Lasata Care Center on Oct. 31, 2016, at the age of 89 years.

Merle was born in Milwaukee on Sept. 16, 1927, to the late Victor and Winnifred (nee McGaw) Doege.

Merle served in the United States Navy in World War II. He was a member of the Saukville American Legion Landt-Thiel Post #470 for over 70 years. He was a village of Saukville clerk for many years. He was a former active member at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Saukville and Community Methodist Church in Cedarburg. He also was an avid Packers fan and a season ticket holder for more than 60 years.

Merle is survived by his wife, Peggy (nee Murphy) of Elm Grove; children, Susan (Marty) Keey of West Bend, Gail (Gary) Laverenz of Jackson and Joan (Rod) Lisowski of Cedarburg; step-children, Sandy (Jeff) Todd of Brookfield, Debbie (Richard) Alt of Milwaukee, Mark Lasee of Mequon and David (Rhonda) Lasee of Auroa, Ill.; grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Schrap of Cedarburg and Ryan (Katie) Laverenz of Kewaskum; great grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Kiera, Brodey and Keyana; and daughter-in-law Gretchen Schuldt-Doege of Milwaukee. Preceded in death by son David Doege.

He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the Saukville American Legion Landt-Thiel Post #470, 601 W. Dekora St. Saukville. Family will receive friends at the Post from 4:30 p.m.
