Robert C. Rakers, 79

Robert Clark “Bob” Rakers, age 79, of Mequon, passed from his mortal life on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. After a long and courageous journey with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Bob is now at peace.
Bob was born in Decatur, Ill., on April 26, 1937, as the only son of Gerhart Herman Rakers and Mildred Shoemaker Rakers. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosemary Rakers and Cathleen Rakers; and grandson, Jeremy Hanes.
Bob leaves behind his beautiful, loving and caring wife of 59 years, Betty (Bricker) Rakers; daughter, Cherri Price (husband Wayne); sons, Steven Rakers (wife Christine) and Michael Rakers (Mary Ann Richards); grandchildren, Nicole, Jaclyn, Miranda, Benjamin, James, and Casey; sister, Louanne Keck (husband Tom); and brother-in-law, Larry Bricker (wife Janiss).
Bob lived an absolutely wonderful life and made many friendships wherever he and wife Betty lived and traveled. Bob loved to travel and see the world with his wife, family and friends. Bob was a registered radiologic technologist and worked in pharmaceutical and medical device sales his entire working career in the states of Illinois, New York, New Jersey, California and Wisconsin. Bob was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. Bob served on several boards, committees, City Council and planning commissions in Waldwick, N.J. as well as locally in Mequon, as Vice Chairman for nine years. Bob started and operated his own medical consulting company during retirement.
The family wishes to thank Home Instead, of Cedarburg, for their dedication in assisting Betty and the family with Bob’s daily care and their wonderful friendship. Bob was truly blessed and thankful to have such devoted caregivers. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the wonderful Newcastle Place staff and to all our loyal friends for their love and support.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Road in Mequon from 11 a.m. until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Bob’s name to the Wisconsin Chapter of the ALS Association or Lumen Christi Catholic Church.
