John C. Grosklaus, 74
Sept. 17, 1942 ó Dec. 8, 2016
John C. Grosklaus of Grafton passed away peacefully on Thursday Dec. 8, 2016, at Columbia St. Maryís Ozaukee Hospital at the age of 74 years.
John was born in Grafton on Sept. 17, 1942, to the late Harvey and Loretta (nee Dickmann) Grosklaus and married Carol (nee Werner) on June 6, 1992, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.
John was so proud of his family and many friends. John loved hosting parties, ranging from Super Bowl parties at the Grafton Bowl, Christmas Eve and the bike race at home, or any other reason to gather with family and friends. Carolís delicious cooking, such as Hollywood potatoes, barbecued ribs, baked beans, Italian sausages, were some of his favorites and always drew a large crowd! He also always enjoyed keeping in touch with old friends by going out for breakfast at the Truck Stop in Saukville.
He loved his collector cars, including his í38 Ford Deluxe, í72 Oldsmobile 98 and í57 Cadillac Seville, to name a few. Going to car shows and Wayneís Drive-In were always a time of joy.
Johnís love of his dogs was unsurpassed. He dearly missed Lance, Lance (the second), Timber and Reggie. Sammy sorely misses laying on Johnís lap to look out the window while getting a good scratch. John was a dedicated and active member of the community, too. He owned the Grafton Bowl for many years and he was a member of the Ozaukee County Board for 20 years. Johnís endless snarky comments kept many people in stitches. His sense of humor and ability to love was unmatched. Remember John with love and a smile, as he would not want it any other way.
John is survived by his wife Carol of Grafton; children, Jay (Amy) Grosklaus of Grafton and Paul (Carol) Barth of DeForest; stepchildren Dave (the late Jan) Schanen and Judy Stern of Portland, Ore. He is further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, 979 N. Green Bay Road, Grafton. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
