Mae Bahr, 82
Delores Mae Bahr (nee Ziehl), 82, of West Bend, passed away peacefully after enduring a courageous eight-year battle with Alzheimer’s on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at The Kathy Hospice. She was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Forest Junction to Walter and Lydia Ziehl.
Delores was a devoted single mother of four. She spent numerous years working in the manufacturing industry. We will always remember the strong work ethic our mother instilled in all of us, which was just one of her many amazing qualities.
Delores resided in West Bend for the past 42 years. She was a caretaker for her mother for 22 years. For the last five years, she resided at Kettle Moraine Gardens Memory Care Building in Kewaskum.
Some of her favorite pastimes were her love of reading and taking long walks. She also enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Madison.
Delores is survived by her four children, Rick (Beverly) Bahr, Patrice (Thomas) Kreis, Cheryl (Gary) Shearier and April (David) Fellenz, and seven grandchildren, Christina, Matthew, Brandon, Ryan, Genevieve, Gabrielle and Harrison. She is further survived by her three great-grandchildren, Grace, Stella and Mason, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lydia Ziehl, and her brother, Walter Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. The family will greet visitors from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and The Kathy Hospice.
