Byron Kinner Borland, 99, of Viroqua, formerly of Yuba, died Jan. 23, 2017, at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua.

He was born Dec. 20, 1917, in Richland County, the son of the late Irvin and Mable Borland.

On Aug. 11, 1938, Byron was united in marriage to Doris Lorraine Geddes at the Baptist Church in Waukon, Iowa.

Byron got his cheesemaker’s license in 1942 and worked at various cheese factories near West Lima, Belmont, Platteville, Hub City and Allenton, worked on the family farm, drove milk truck and drove school bus for several school districts. He enjoyed dancing with Doris and playing cards.

He is survived by his children, Buddy (Joan) Borland, Sandra Pamperin and Jack (Holly) Borland; 13 grandchildren, Bryant (Cindy) Borland, Bruce Borland, Brenda Borland and Bret (Heather) Borland, Ginger (Frank) Boldt, Jeffrey (Barb) Pamperin, Laura (Peter) Boldt, Joy Pamperin, Debra Pamperin, Stacey (Brent) Boegel, Lisa (Jamie) Heise, John Borland Jr. and Kevin Borland; 14 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Karyn (Kurt) Pamperin, and other relatives and friends.

Byron was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, a son-in-law and two daughters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center. Burial will follow in the Czech National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday.
