Floyd D. Gable Sr.
Floyd D. Gable Sr., “Lil Heller,” 76, of Hartford, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Floyd was born July 23, 1940, in Hardin, Montana, to Pete J. and Mary (nee Sinner) Gable. He was united in marriage to Jeanine Troeller on Oct. 28, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huilsburg. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Hartford American Legion. He was a painter and also a delivery driver for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping with his children and grandchildren, traveling, being a Boy Scout leader, and, in younger years, hunting.
Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanine; loving children, Floyd David Gable Jr. of West Bend, Randall E. (Dianne) of Oakfield and Rick A. (Nicole) Gable of Hartford; six cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Anna, Alex, Christopher, David and Jacob Gable; one cherished great-grandchild, Amber Lynn Gable; dear siblings, Jeane Dishman of Tallahassee, Florida, and Richard Gable of Whitewrite, Texas; and dear siblings-in-law, Caroline Lisowe of Gillett, Wendy Gable of Whitewrite, Texas, Carolyn (Ed) Grudzinski of Hartford, Myrna Cikanek of Hartford, and Tom (Judy) Troeller of West Bend. He is further survived by other loved relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Bill Schreiner; and siblings, Melvin Sinner, Margaret Gress, Charles Gable and Helen Farrar.
A memorial service for Floyd will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St. Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Marcia Carrier officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Hartford 1022 Club or to the Big Horn County Historical Society in Hardin, Montana, are greatly appreciated.
