Irene M. Esser, 95

Irene M. Esser (nee Schnorenberg) passed away peacefully at The Kathy Hospice on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, only days shy of her 96th birthday She was born in Hartford on Jan. 31, 1921, to Edward and Anna (nee Held) Schnorenberg. Irene married Norman H. Esser on Nov. 22, 1945, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.

Irene grew up on her parentís farm with seven brothers and one sister. She attended school in St. Lawrence and Hartford High School. She worked at the Hartford Shoe Factory from 1942-1953 and then started her family. In 1966, she began working in the ladies department at JC Penny Hartford where she shared many decades working with close lifelong friends.

Irene is survived by her loving children, Ginger (Randy) Kuhn of Hartford, Cindy (Shane) Heaton of Allenton and Kevin Esser of Oconomowoc; grandchildren, Jessica Mills, Jacob and Justin Rosenthal, and Damien and Jamie Kuhn; and six great-grandchildren, including two sets of twins. Still survived by three loving sister-in-law, Nancy, Marie and Fran Schnorenberg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Norman in 2000 after 54 years of togetherness. Also, preceded by seven wonderful brothers, Edward, James, Robert, Clarence, William, Jackie and Ralph, and a loving sister, Mary Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Kilian Catholic Church (264 State St., Hartford). The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at the church.

Interment will be St. Kilian Cemetery in Hartford.
