Jean F. Gerner, 69, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. She was born Jan. 4, 1948. She graduated from West Bend High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Jean worked as a personal assistant most of her career in the West Bend area.
She was a lifelong resident of West Bend who cared deeply for all in her community. She was outgoing, caring and always tried to help others.
Jean delighted in creating memories with her eight grandchildren, cherishing each one of them dearly. She enjoyed watching live music and traveling the world with family and friends. Jean was a strong, clever, independent woman who left an impression upon many peoples' hearts and will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her daughter, Kari (Jim) Thornborough of Chicago; son, Kurt Gerner of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Blue, Ivy, Ruby, Gray and Hue Thornborough of Chicago, Lucille Aragon-Gerner, and Max Burgess and Emma Gerner-Johnson of Milwaukee; sister, Jane Gamble of Mount Calvary; brother, John Laufer of Park Falls; dear friend, Colleen Haas; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by mother D. Jean Laufer and father Jerry J. Laufer.
The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend). The visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.
