Sylvia E. Neu (nee Multhauf), "Sis," 97, of Hartford, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at the Wellington Place, with her loving family by her side.
Sylvia was born May 19, 1919, to Frank B. and Elsie (nee Remmel) Multhauf in Rubicon. She was united in marriage to Raymond Neu on Nov.
19, 1935, at St. John Catholic Church in Rubicon. She was the longest and oldest member of St. Mary of the Hill Parish/ Holy Hill in Hubertus.
Sylvia enjoyed participating in the Day-timers Club at church. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and family get-togethers. Earlier in life, she liked gardening and canning and helping clean and present model homes.
Most of all, she loved her family.
Sylvia is survived by her loving children, Betty Smith of Florida, Judy (Wayne) Gilbert, Rita (Jim) Lemberger, both of Hartford, and John Neu of West Bend, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Neu of Hartford; cherished 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and dear brother, Sylvester Multhauf, and dear sister-in-law, Dorothy Multhauf. She is further survived by many other loved relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Raymond; loving sons, David and Francis "Corky" Neu, and son-in-law, Clifford Smith; cherished granddaughter, Cheryl Smith; and several dear siblings-in-law. Mass of Resurrection for Sylvia will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, with the Rev. Fred Alexander, OCD at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, at Holy Hill (upper level, 1525 Carmel Road, Hubertus, WI 53033.) Family will greet relatives and friends from 12:303:15 p.m. at the church.
Immediately following Mass, interment will be in St. Augustine/St. Mary of the Hill Parish Cemetery in the town of Richfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Basilica of Holy Hill or to St. Mary of the Hill Parish are sincerely appreciated.
The Neu Family would like to share their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Wellington Place, Seasonís Hospice, and Dr. Kelly Darmody for the wonderful care Sylvia received.
