Betty Jane V. Krueger, 88Betty Jane V. Krueger, 88, passed away at Ivy Manor in West Bend on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. She was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Kewaskum to Frank and Almeda (nee Senn) Krueger.

Betty Jane graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1946 and went on to attend Downer College, where she obtained a degree in foods and nutrition in 1951. Betty Jane was a resident of East Lansing, Michigan, where she worked at the university as a dietician. After leaving Michigan, Betty moved to a couple different places before settling down in Port Washington. There she worked at the St. Mary Hospital as a dietician before retiring in 1992. Betty enjoyed going to operas, traveling and was an avid reader. She was also an accomplished seamstress and could sew anything from doll clothes to bridal gowns.

Betty made children’s clothes and made her own clothing. She was a member of the American Dietician Association, and the Wisconsin and Michigan Dietician Associations.

Betty Jane is survived by her brother, Frank Krueger, and sister, Janette (Edgar) Loomis. She is further survived by nine nieces and nephews, 18 great-nieces and nephews, and nine great-great-nieces and -nephews, as well as other relatives. Betty Jane is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn (James) Komaromy, and sister-in-law, Mary Krueger.

A memorial service for Betty Jane will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Peace United Church of Christ (343 First St., Kewaskum, 53040).

The Rev. Eric Kirkegaard will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Interment to be held at Peace UCC Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the church scholarship fund.

Betty Jane’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ivy Manor in West Bend and the Serenity Hospice team for all the care and compassion they provided Betty Jane.
