Marian S. Hilgendorf, 102, passed away Jan. 24, 2017, in Cambridge, Minn.
She was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Adams County to Frank and Pearl (Wiggins) Snyder.
She grew up in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and was the fifth of 10 children.
She attended the Teachers College in Eau Claire, earning a twoyear teaching certificate, and went on to teach for eight years in Boyceville, Baraboo and Janesville. She then moved to Milwaukee and worked as a secretary for Taylor Electric.
She married Karl Hilgendorf May 23, 1953. They built their own house in Mequon and raised their daughter, Nancy. She completed her four-year teaching degree and taught school in Mequon from 1959 to 1968. She then returned to Taylor Electric for a secretary position until she retired.
She and her husband moved to Brevard for their retirement years of 1982 to 2007, until they relocated to Cambridge, Minn. to be closer to family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; brothers, Frank, Walter and Leo, and sisters Rosella, Margaret, Helen, Dorothy, Mildred and Margorie.
She is survived by daughter, Nancy (David) Johnson, of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) LaPlante, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Nathan (Bre) Johnson, of San Francisco, Calif., and Lana (Nick) Kuchinski, of Boulder, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Lauren and Burke.
Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery, in Eau Claire.
