Philip F. Fleming, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.
He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on Jan. 1, 1923, to Bernard and Georgia (nee Andelfinger) Fleming.
He is survived by his loving family, including his sons, Scott (Barbara) and David, and his daughter, Deirdre Fleming; brother, Paul Fleming; grandchildren, Ryan Philip (Kate) Fleming and Meghan (Bryan) Schneeweis; great-grandchildren, Clare and Emma Fleming, and Landen and Liam Schneeweis; and his dear neighbors and friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Stromberg) Fleming; his parents, Bernard and Georgia; his infant sister, Georgia; Betty’s parents, Dr. Norvin and Mrs. Minerva Stromberg; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Delores (George) Schmidt and Clifford (Vivian) Stromberg.
Phil was a decorated World War II fighter pilot (P-47), later an F-86 pilot in the USAF, was awarded numerous patents as an engineer for Gehl Co., and was an avid West Bend Country Club golfer.
A memorial service to celebrate Phil’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend). Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Washington County Memorial Park with full military honors.
