June E. Kohlwey, of Grafton, passed away on March 1, 2017, in her home, surrounded by family, at the age of 94 years.
June was born in Port Washington on June 28, 1922, to the late Erwin and Mabel (nee Schmidt) Werking. She was united in marriage to Alfred Kohlwey, on Oct. 13, 1945, at Grand Avenue Evangelical Church in Port Washington. They have been blessed with six children.
June and her husband Al founded and co-owned Cedarburg Dairy and Cedar Crest Ice Cream and were also involved with the Darihaus Restaurant in Port Washington. June was involved in quite a few organizations, and was a member of the following: St. Paul Women’s Guild, Martin Club Auxiliary, Friends of Concordia, 5 Corners Lions Club, Little Women of Ozaukee County Homemakers and the LWML.
June is survived by her husband, Al Kohlwey; daughters Pauline "Polly" Morrison of Grafton, Lois (Rev. Roger) Kobleske of Watertown; sons Ken (Carolyn) of Two Rivers, Robert (Debra) of Grafton, Bill (Sue) of Boltonville and Tim (Mary) of Grafton. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. June is preceded in death by brothers Melvin and Wallace Werking.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, 5:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church (701 Washington St.) in Grafton. Visitation to be on Tuesday, at the church, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:15 p.m.
Interment at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Concordia University Wisconsin, Living Word Lutheran High School, Milwaukee Lutheran High School or the Wisconsin Lions Foundation are appreciated.
