Rose Valley Berchem,
June 24, 1936 — March 12, 2017
Rose Valley Berchem, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 12, 2017, at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend.
She was born June 25, 1936 in Menominee, Michigan, to the late Godfrey and Marie (nee Wozniak) Valley.
Rose lived with the temperament of a true artist, yet denied her talent with every breath. Her gardens overflowing with color and glory, her quilts laden with perfect hues and patterns told the real story.
Rose could be complicated, yet naive, strong of conviction, yet contradictory in thought. But her constant was her giving nature. How many of us received the gifts of her cakes and cookies and felt the care baked in?
This artist has left her mark with us, and has begun the quilt of her dreams and the rose garden that never ends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at St. Frances Cabrini (1025 S. Seventh Ave., West Bend, WI 53095) with the Rev. Nathan Reesman presiding.
Visitation will be at church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass (11 a.m.). Inurnment will be at a later date at the New St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to The Kathy Hospice (3232 Pleasant Valley Road, West Bend, WI 53095).
A heartfelt thanks to her loyal friends that remained close to Rose and comforted her.
