Gay Lana Garrison,
April 4, 1947 — March 31, 2017
Gay Lana Garrison (Grabo) 69, of West Bend, formerly of Milwaukee, died peacefully in her sleep March 31, 2017, at SunnyRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sheboygan. She was born April 4, 1947, to Harold and Lois (Ackers) Grabo of Milwaukee, who predeceased her in death; as well as her uncle and aunt, Arthur and Theresa Grabo.
Gay was a former social/crisis worker for Washington County Mental Health and a 30-year resident of West Bend. All who knew Mom (Gay) know the grand depth of her intelligence— she was a walking encyclopedia — her heart was warm and welcoming to all, and her love for animals undeniable. Gay was not your typical lady; she loved rock music, danced to hip-hop, and tattooed her body with symbols of her life. She conquered many obstacles, and she lived and left on her own terms.
Survivors include her son, Christopher (Amy H.) Garrison of Butler, Shannon (Garrison) Caples Random Lake and Matthew Garrison of West Bend; grandson, Jordan Caples, and granddaughter, Micaela Caples of Random Lake; ex-husband, William Garrison of Kewaskum, whom she married Dec. 4, 1965; as well as her pets, Alex (African Grey) and Bird (Amazon).
Cremation was held at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Memorial donations may be made to Shannon Caples, 522 Butler St., Random Lake, WI 53075. All donations will go to purchase a plaque to be placed at her family resting grounds, and a tree to plant, to forever grow in her spirit and share the earth of her beloved pets that have preceded her in death.
Friends and relatives may share in our celebration of her life that family will schedule at a later date in June 2017 at Regner Park, West Bend, where she enjoyed many days with her grandkids swimming and soaking in the sun.
