Richard "Dick" Kenfield, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Cedar Community in West Bend.
He was born April 25, 1923, in Milwaukee to Leon and Clara (nee Rasmuessen) Kenfield. Dick married his love, Helen (nee Schuster), on June 7, 1949 in Moscow, Idaho. He attended the University of Idaho and was in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. Dick was a cartographer for the U.S. Geological Survey and did mapping throughout the United States and the world, including Antarctica and Saudi Arabia. He was a creative artist, a jazz aficionado, had a strong love for nature, and was a fun guy to golf with. Dick was a member of the American Legion Post 10 and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum (Docent).
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen; children, Mark (Maureen), Molly (Jim) Strachota and Tom (Lora); grandchildren, Cassie (Chris) Martin, Andrew Strachota, Meaghan Kenfield, Lilli Kenfield, Ryan (Jenny) Bernardi and Kristen Kenfield; and seven great-grandchildren. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Peter (Linda) Kenfield.
A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI 53095) with Deacon Michael Koebel presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service (5:30 p.m.).
